Open when you’ve had a bad day.
First of all… breathe.
I know you probably clicked this because today didn’t go how you wanted it to. Maybe work was stressful, maybe you’re overwhelmed, maybe you’re tired, homesick, frustrated, or maybe everything just feels a little heavier than usual.
I wish I could be there properly for moments like this. I wish I could hug you, make you food, distract you, or just sit with you while you talk through everything.
But since I can’t do that right now, I need you to remember a few things.
One bad day does not define your trip. One hard moment does not define you. And feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you’re failing.
You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for.
You’ve already done something incredibly brave by leaving home and stepping into something completely different. Most people stay comfortable their whole lives - but you didn’t. You took a chance on yourself, and I’m genuinely so proud of you for that.
And even on the days where you feel exhausted or emotional, I hope you remember that there are people back home who love you deeply. Especially me.
You don’t have to have everything figured out over there. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to make every day amazing.
You’re allowed to miss home. You’re allowed to feel tired. You’re allowed to have moments where things feel hard.
That’s human.
But I also know you. And I know you’ll keep going tomorrow. You’ll wake up, reset, and keep becoming stronger without even realising it.
So tonight, be kind to yourself. Put on a comfort show. Listen to music. Eat something good maybe have a beer. Call me if you can. Get some sleep.
Tomorrow is a new day.
And no matter how bad today felt, I still love you exactly the same.
Always.
